About Me
Annika Dodrill (she/her) is a DC-based dancer, choreographer, and teacher who values movement as an organic and communal process.
Born and raised in Austin, TX, Annika trained in jazz, ballet, tap, and contemporary styles at Synergy Dance Studio, where she now teaches and choreographs whenever she has the chance. While attending college at Miami University (Oxford, OH) and majoring in Interior Design, she was a dancer, choreographer, and collaborator with the contemporary company Dance Theatre.
Professionally, she has danced for Effervescence Collective, Capitol Movement, Rae Gray Dance Collective, and Heart Stück Bernie. She has also been a collaborator on short works by Margaux Lieser, Drew Scammell, and Emily Green. Her short choreography work “too much/not enough” was recently selected for the final NACHMO showing as part of the Atlas Intersections Festival 2024.
Sometimes, she takes a break from dance to work her 9-to-5 job as a federal contract interior designer, specializing in space planning and furniture specification. She also moonlights as a figure skating coach and choreographer in the fall and winter months. In any other free time she is able to find, Annika enjoys cooking, the New York Times puzzle page, spending time with her cat, Toaster, and re-watching the same five movies/TV shows over and over again.
